Davening Friday Night with an Angel is a complete Kabbalat Shabbat service sung by Cantor Shmully and produced by Zalman Velvel. It walks through the Friday night liturgy from Lecha Dodi to the closing Aleinu, sung the way it was sung in the old shuls — slow where it needs to be slow, soaring where it needs to soar.
The CD is meant for two kinds of people. The first is the regular shul-goer who wants the music in their car or kitchen during the week. The second is the Jew who has not been to a Friday night service in years and wants to remember what it sounded like — or hear it for the first time without the social pressure of walking in.
If you light candles on Friday night and want a soundtrack to set the table by, this is the one.
